Developed in the 1920s in New York and standardized in England by 1927, the Quickstep evolved from a combination of the Foxtrot, Charleston, Shag, Peabody and One Step.

The Quickstep is a dynamic dance with a lot of movement including hops, runs, and steps with lots of momentum and rotation, and a sprinkling of syncopations. Above all this though, the Quickstep is smooth, flowing, and elegant.
