DLYMI - About Us

"Let us read, and let us dance; these two amusements will never do any harm to the world."

        - Voltaire

In that spirit, Viola, founder and artistic director of Dance Like You Mean It Studios, has dedicated her life to sharing her passion for dancing with others.

The Studios

Dancing is an activity that is good for the body, the mind and the soul. Dance helps us connect with others and enriches our lives in a profound way.

At Dance Like You Mean It Studios, the friendly, inviting atmosphere allows you to learn about dancing through a mentoring approach by the teacher and fellow students. At our studio we offer a complete experience, not only dance education for all ages and abilities, but also a place to practice your dancing (at our Dance Parties - see Events), as practice is a vital part of learning any new skill.

Classes are offered at various levels as you gain experience. Most start at beginners and progress at their own speed. To join intermediate and advanced classes, you must be assessed and approved by the instructor. Singles and couples are welcome at all classes.

"Do it big, do it right, and do it with style."

       - Fred Astaire

The Instructor

Fred may have said it, but Viola Wawro means it - learn to do it right and she will show you what good style looks like, and how to achieve it.

Viola has been dancing since she was a young girl and she loves to share her passion for dance with others. Her enthusiasm is evident in every class she instructs. Her approach is a unique combination of instruction and repeated practice of the steps and style that allows you to advance at your own ability and comfort level.

She starts by ensuring that you have a solid understanding and execution of the basics.

Her classes have a level of rigour and repetition that ensures you progress and improve weekly.

And lastly she demonstrates, through example, how elegant the dance is when you add certain sophisticated elements.

She makes the dance experience fun because she wants everybody to "dance like you mean it" and enjoy it too!
